Welcome to the Newburyport Entrepreneur – CPA on the Street. In this series I travel around town and visit with other entrepreneurs and small business owners to find out if they love Newburyport as much as I do! The goal of the series is to provide educational and fun information directly from the business owners themselves.
Zach Field Drum Studios was started in 1999 in West Newbury, MA. After many years of giving lessons in West Newbury, the studio grew to capacity and needed more space and more instructors. In March of 2008, Zach Field Drum Studios moved to the Newburyport location where there was more space for the studio to grow.
The studio has four drumset rooms and an ensemble room. Each drumset room is equipped with two complete drumsets, one for the teacher and one for the student. The drum rooms have computers in them that enable the teachers to access the music program. The rooms are also equipped with an isolation headphone system that allows the teacher and the student to play along with songs and still hear the music over the volume of the drums. Lessons at ZFDS consists of a well rounded education covering rudiments, snare drum pieces, reading exercises, melodic percussion studies, improvisation, funk/rock/jazz/latin studies and also learning music that the students are interested in. Many times throughout the year, the studio puts together an ensemble to perform in the community.
