John Badalament, Ed.M., is an author, filmmaker, educator, international speaker and recognized leader in the fatherhood field. His newly released book, The Modern Dads Dilemma: How To Stay Connected With Your Kids In A Rapidly Changing World (New World Library, 2010), is a practical guide filled with compelling stories of everyday dads, sound research, and six practices dads can put to use immediately.
John is a graduate of Harvard’s Graduate School of Education. Over the last 18 years, he has worked in public and independent school settings as a Dean, teacher and coach, clinical settings as a counselor for adolescents and adults, and in private practice with couples. John trained with Terry Real, therapist and author of I Don’t Want To Talk About It (his seminal book on male depression) and The New Rules of Marriage. John periodically consults with Real Relationship Solutions, an organization based on Real’s radical approach to working with couples and parents.
Currently, John consults with schools, parent groups, educational organizations, mental health professionals, corporations, non-profit agencies, corrections facilities and religious groups. He is also finishing work on a new documentary film project for the web entitled, Gender Traps: How Marriage Problems Start In Kindergarten.
